Greta Thunberg fined for climate protest in Sweden

Greta Thunberg was convicted guilty and fined for violating a police order to leave a climate protest in Malmo, Sweden, last month.

The climate activist from Sweden pleaded not guilty. “My actions are justifiable,” she told the court, according to the Swedish newspaper Sydsvenskan.

Thunberg’s revenue will be used to calculate the fine.

Thunberg was among the demonstrators who blocked the road for oil trucks in Malmo’s harbor.

She was charged with failing to leave when police told her to.

“I believe we are in an emergency situation that threatens life, health, and property,” she told the court, adding that “countless people” were in danger.
