In Cologne, the last Ford Fiesta comes off the assembly line.

On Friday, the last Ford Fiesta will be made, putting an end to almost 50 years of history that made it the best-selling car in the UK.

Ford will make its last model in Cologne, Germany, before making changes to its plant to make more electric cars.

When it was made for the first time in 1976, it was an instant hit with people who wanted smaller, more fuel-efficient cars.

Around the world, more than 22 million have been made.

Even though there are a lot of car models to choose from in the UK, more Fiestas have been sold than any other model. From 2009 to 2020, it was the best-selling car in the country.

Last year, more than 25,000 people bought it, making it the 10th most popular new car.

Figures from the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) show that in 2022, there were 1.5 million cars that could be driven on UK roads. This was more than any other type.

Ford said last October that it would stop making the Fiesta after it stopped making the Mondeo in 2021. It also quit making the S-Maxx and Galaxy people carriers at the beginning of this year.In 2025, Ford will stop making the Focus.

Ford Fiesta will be taken off the market when the car is scrapped.
People think that the car giant is using electrification as a chance to change its brand for customers who care about the environment.

In 1977, the first model made in the UK was made in Dagenham, Essex. However, the first car was made in Valencia, Spain, a year earlier.

In the wake of the 1973 oil crisis, it was first made to be a small car that used less gas.

Alex Buttle, who helped start the marketplace for used cars called Motorway, said that the car would be popular with users for a long time. “The Ford Fiesta is still in high demand, and our dealer partners are still eager to stock their lots with this new classic,” he said.

Mr. Buttle said that the success of “this timeless model” was shown by the fact that the average price of a used model had gone up by 14% in the last few months.

“The end of new Ford Fiesta production may mean the end of an era, but the used car market will keep this popular car alive for years to come,” he said.

Ford will keep the last two Fiestas. One will stay in Germany, and the other will be shipped to the UK and put in its collection of old cars.
