Kylian Mbappe: Al Hilal’makes £259m offer’ for PSG and France forward

According to the Press Association, Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal has made a world record bid of £259 million for Paris Saint-Germain striker Kylian Mbappe.

The 24-year-old France captain, who has a year left on his contract, has declined to sign an extension with the French champions and did not travel to Japan for the pre-season tour.

PSG would rather sell Mbappe now than let him depart for free next summer.

The current record is Neymar’s £200 million move from Barcelona to PSG in 2017.

Which Saudi players have joined teams this summer?
In 2017, PSG activated Brazil forward Neymar’s release clause, making him the most expensive player in the world.

Mbappe, who joined PSG from Monaco in 2017 for £166 million, will earn two of the three highest prices paid for a player if he moves.

Mbappe has stated that he plans to stay at PSG for another year before departing when his contract expires. He is highly expected to join Real Madrid.

Chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi has made it clear that he intends to take a harsh line, claiming it is “impossible” for Mbappe to go on a free transfer in 2024.
