Kylian Mbappe was not included in Paris Saint-Germain’s preseason tour to Asia.

The club’s all-time leading scorer has refused to sign a one-year contract extension, which expires next summer.

PSG would rather sell the France forward now and collect a transfer fee than let him go for free.

Mbappe, on the other hand, has stated that he intends to stay at PSG for another year before departing when his current contract expires.

He is largely expected to join Real Madrid for free at the end of the current season.

The striker is still the second most expensive player in history, having joined PSG in 2017 for £165.7 million. Since joining from AS Monaco, the World Cup winner has scored 212 goals in 260 games.

PSG believes that the current scenario cannot be allowed to continue and that Mbappe must leave the club, therefore the decision to leave him at home.

Chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi has made it clear that he intends to take a tough stance on the subject, claiming it is “impossible” for Mbappe to go for free in 2024.

Several teams are said to have asked about Mbappe, and PSG is eager to sell this summer. Given his ambition to join Real Madrid next summer, it is deemed unlikely that the forward would accept any offer.

PSG won Ligue 1 last season, but ended just a point ahead of RC Lens, despite their comparatively vast financial resources, and were eliminated from the Champions League in the last 16 by Bayern Munich.

Manager Christophe Galtier was fired earlier this summer and replaced by former Barcelona, AS Roma, and Spain manager Luis Enrique.
