Liam Smith vs. Chris Eubank Jr.: The British duo will fight again on September 2nd in Manchester.

British rivals Liam Smith and Chris Eubank Jr will rematch at the AO Arena in Manchester on Saturday, September 2nd.

Smith, 34, stopped Eubank Jr, 33, in four rounds in January, capping off a tense build-up.

The rematch, which was originally planned for July 1, was rescheduled after Smith sustained an injury in training.

“I’m fully healed up now, injury-free, and I’m looking forward to finishing Chris Eubank Jr’s career,” Smith stated.

The former WBO light-middleweight champion from Liverpool has 33 wins, three losses, and one draw in his career.

Eubank Jr, who has a rematch clause, has won 32 fights and lost three.

There were rumors that he was in advanced talks to face Conor Benn next, but he insists that the rematch with Smith will be his “day of revenge.”

“No more excuses, no more postponements,” he added. Smith can’t keep running forever.”

The rivalry is described as “one of the most heated in British boxing” by Boxxer promoter Ben Shalom.

At a pre-fight news conference, the first fight was dominated by controversy.

For much of the event, Eubank was the target of homophobic slurs from Smith, who retaliated by mocking his opponent’s hometown of Liverpool and discrediting his marriage.

The British Boxing Board of Control later judged both fighters guilty of misconduct and punished them for their actions.
