Mattel, the toy company, is looking for a £3,500-per-week chief Uno player.

The corporation is seeking fans of the card game to apply on TikTok for the part-time position of “Chief Uno Player.”

Starting in September, the position will be stationed in New York for four weeks.

Responsibilities include spending four hours a day, four days a week, playing the new game Uno Quatro.

To be considered for the position, applicants must be US residents and at least 18 years old. The weekly salary is $4,444.44 (£3,500).

When asked how many people had responded since the job posting was posted on Tuesday, the company did not comment.

A TikTok video announcing the role had received approximately 9,000 likes, as well as hundreds of replies, many of which came from accounts showing interest. The application deadline is August 10th.

“We’re constantly looking to create new ways for fans to engage with Uno – and with the nationwide search for the first-ever Chief Uno Player, we’re bringing in-person gameplay to fans in a way they’ve never experienced before,” Mattel’s global head of games, Ray Adler, said in a statement announcing the position.

The chosen candidate will be expected to help produce and star in social media posts, conduct interviews, and challenge strangers to play the new version of the traditional game, which uses tiles rather than cards.

Candidates must also be able to “sit for long periods of time, lift and carry 50 lbs, and set up playing tables and tents on location,” according to the firm.

The prank comes after Mattel received praise for its efforts in building anticipation for the Barbie film, starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling.

However, the toymaker is in need of hits as well. It recently recorded sales of approximately $1 billion (£786 million) in the April-June period, a 12% decrease from the previous year.

Profits in the quarter fell to $27 million, down from $68 million the prior year.
