The Chinese owner of the well-known MG car brand will build a plant in Europe.

The new plant will make electric cars, according to the state-owned company that owns the well-known MG brand.

But a representative for SAIC told the BBC that the company hasn’t decided yet if MG cars will be made at the site.

MG, which has been around for more than 100 years, was made in the UK until 2016, when production moved to China.

Thursday, a SAIC representative told the BBC that the company was still looking for a site in Europe and finishing up other project details.

“We sell many different names, such as MG, IM, and Maxus. We haven’t decided yet which will be made at the factory,” said the spokesman.

SAIC says that sales of its cars outside of China went up by 40% in the first three months of the year.

The company said that most of the foreign sales came from the MG brand because the number of cars sold in Europe more than doubled in the same time period.

Almost seven years ago, SAIC stopped putting together MGs at the Longbridge plant in Birmingham.

In 2016, MG said that assembly in the UK was no longer “required” and that cars would come in the country “fully built and ready to be distributed.”

The MG and the first Mini were both made at the Longbridge plant. It was set up in 1906 and made it through both World Wars.

In the years that followed, the site had to deal with the downturn in the economy after World War II and the growth of the auto industry abroad.

It also got back on its feet after strikes, mergers, takeovers, and drops in the value of its shares.

After MG Rover went bankrupt in 2005, the company stopped making cars. In the end, SAIC bought the name.

The MG6 came out in 2011. It was the first MG car to be put together at Longbridge in 16 years.

The five-seater car was made in China, but it was created in the UK.

In the past few years, Chinese carmakers like SAIC, Geely, and Great Wall have seen their market numbers grow.

China’s exports have grown because of the demand for electric cars and sales to Russia. This is because many countries in the West put bans on Russia after it invaded Ukraine.

Official numbers show that China sent out more than a million cars in the first three months of this year. So, it passed Japan as the biggest producer of cars in the world.

SAIC has factories in Thailand, Indonesia, India, and Pakistan in addition to its factories in China.

Last year, the Chinese company sold 5.3 million cars all over the world. It has joint projects with German automaker Volkswagen and US automaker General Motors.

SAIC says that more than 100,000 cars were sold in Europe, which was its biggest market outside of China.
